Groove Caravan is a unique album of world music fusion, full of passion, exoticism, and romance, which documents the collaboration of Vishwa Mohan Bhatt - a world renowned, Grammy-Award winning Indian classical musician on the Mohan Veena (modified Indian slide guitar), with Glen Charles Halls- a Canadian jazz pianist, rock guitarist, and composer.
This is a unique and wide ranging album that moves through contemporary, groove oriented music, and beautiful ballads. Overall the album is clearly routed in the traditional, devotional Indian-classical tradition, but sprinkled with touches and colors from the Western, contemporary jazz tradition. But at the core, "Groove Caravan" features two great musicians trading and co-creating improvised solos, with a shared understanding of higher purpose in the music.
